His Excellency Dr. Julius Maada Bio
President of the Republic of Sierra Leone
His Excellency Dr. Julius Maada Bio is the 5th democratically elected President of the Republic of Sierra Leone, currently serving his second term in office following his re-election in June 2023. A former military leader who played a pivotal role in Sierra Leone’s return to multiparty democracy in 1996, President Bio is today widely regarded as a statesman, reformer, and champion of inclusive governance. Since first assuming office in 2018, President Bio has anchored his leadership on human capital development, with strong investments in free quality education, healthcare, gender empowerment, agricultural transformation (Feed Salone initiative), and digital innovation. His vision is to transform Sierra Leone into a peaceful, inclusive, middle-income nation, driven by knowledge, food security, and sustainable infrastructure. Under his stewardship, Sierra Leone has recorded steady progress in education enrolment, gender equality, technology expansion, and democratic reforms, earning global recognition for its commitment to peace and good governance.

His Excellency Rtd. Lieutenant General Peter K. Lavahun, has officially arrived in Nairobi to assume his new diplomatic role. Accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Fatmata Bintu Lavahun, Lavahun becomes the third Sierra Leonean High Commissioner to the Republic of Kenya since the establishment of formal diplomatic relations and ties between the two nations.
